  RUBEN RODRIGUEZ - BASS
To salsa music historians the last name Rodriguez is hallowed ground. The late Bobby Rodriguez was considered by many to be the finest Latin bass player to emerge from the 50's NYC scene, today that title is undoubtedly held by Ruben Rodriguez. Though genetically unrelated these two men exemplify all that is to be desired in a bass player. A fine, round tone, a flexible and fine tuned rhythmic sense added to an unteachable sense of what not to play and where not to play it. In modern Salsa music the bassist today is the one player who is still outlining the clave pattern and his ability to anchor and embellish this two measure phrase over the course of the tune is his sworn challenge. Ruben is rightly regarded by his peers as one of the most talented bass players active today, irrespective of any given genre.
