OSCAR HERNANDAZ - PIANIST / LEADER / MUSICAL DIRECTOR
The leader, pianist, arranger and driving force behind the Spanish Harlem Orchestra Oscar Hernandez is a giant in the field. Beginning in the early 70's Oscar has gained a reputation as perhaps the most versatile and professional musician imaginable. Whether composing the theme to the HBO juggernaut "Sex In The City" or scoring works for Broadway or Hollywood, Oscar is an artist who defines what excellence in music is all about. From the Cha Cha of the 50's to the hardcore urban Salsa explosion of the 70's Oscar has mastered every aspect of this tradition and then some. It is not idle speculation to suggest that Oscar Hernandez represents the pinnacle of latin music and that when the history of the music is discussed Oscar is going to be there with Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and all the other towering figures of this genre.
